5 Ways to Start Your Work Week Right

Mondays typically have a negative stigma – the weekend is over, and it’s hard to get out of bed. However, it can be the most influential day, setting the tone for the rest of the week.

Instead of tackling Mondays with dread, approach the first day of the week with gusto, understanding that while Mondays tend to be more chaotic, you can use the first day of the work week to your advantage.

Follow these five simple steps to help chase those Monday blues away and kick start a successful, productive work week.

Wake up early and exercise. Exercising first thing in the morning will help you start alert for the rest of the day, while also giving you a boost of endorphins that will help improve your mood.

Eat a healthy breakfast. Eating breakfast daily will jump your metabolism, giving you the energy you need to tackle any unforeseen dilemmas or projects.

Arrive early. Instead of pressing that snooze button, make an effort to beat the commuter traffic (which is usually bad on Monday mornings), and tackle your inbox early. By getting in early to the office, you set yourself up for some cushion time to deal with those Monday problems that almost seem inevitable.

Clear your desk and desktop. Before you leave for the weekend, clean up your workspace, removing any miscellaneous paperwork. This will help free your mind when you come in each day. By giving yourself a clean slate, you will be more apt to dive into your to-do list, accomplishing more in the long term.

Make time for the unexpected. It’s Monday, which means that you will probably run into some tasks that came up over the weekend that need to be addressed. Build a buffer time into your schedule for urgent emails and projects that will ultimately come up.

This Monday, follow some of the simple steps above and see the rest of your work week improve.
